Description:
In all Theology subjects, in addtion to the primary biblical documents, candidates will be expected to be familiar with the relevent sections of the three Creeds and of confessional documents such as the 39 Articles and the Westminster Confession.
Aims
- These subjects, taken as a whole, are designed to
- Assist candidates in gaining an integrated Christian theological perspective and methodology;
- Introduce candidates to the main areas of theological study, so as to provide a solid foundation for further theological exploration and reflection;
- Help candidates reflect on the various aspects of Christian faith, thus gaining insights on the great questions of life;
- Deepen candidates' understanding of what relationship with God entails and implies.
Subject outline:
Section A: The Doctrines of Grace
- The Gospel of God
- Repentence, faith, forgiveness, justification, election, and grace;
- The work of the Spirit: regeneration, sanctification, and fellowship.
Section B: The Christian Hope
- The Kingdom present and future;
- Judgement present and future;
- Consummation of all things in Christ;
- Death, intermediate state, resurrection;
- Heaven and hell.
